About Me!
Hello and welcome to my website. Thanks for stopping by!
This is my 18th year teaching. I have spent my entire career working with struggling learners as a Special Education teacher and as an ELA Interventionist. Being able to help my students become confident, successful readers and writers is important to me. I take my job very seriously. I feel like all children have the ability to become readers and writers no matter where they are in their journey or what obstacles they may have in their way. I am truly grateful to be able to do what I do each and every day!
I received both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Le Moyne College in Syracuse. I am professionally certified to teach Elementary and Special Education for students in Grades 1-6. I am just finishing up my coursework for a School Building Leadership Certificate through Niagara University. I will be completing my administrative internship this school year. I look forward to using all of my coursework & my years of teaching experience to support teachers and students in a future leadership role.
I live in Madison County with my husband and our two children. On the weekends, I like to spend quality time with my family. We are definitely an outdoorsy family! We love hiking, kayaking, and traveling. Our favorite Wintertime activities are sledding, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Our favorite Summertime activities are definitely being near the ocean, being on the river, and hosting big family cookouts.
Besides teaching, I also enjoy baking, yard work, reading, and photography. I love being in nature, early morning coffee, and writing. I hate bees, scary movies, and rainy days.
My professional interests include learning about, promoting, and supporting teachers in aligning curriculum and instruction with The Science of Reading. Working with kiddos is definitely my first passion, but working with adult learners (teachers are always learning!) is a close second. Check out my website on The Science of Reading here.
